Explore what open educational resources (OERs) are; why they have value for students, faculty, and administrators; where OERs can be found; and how academic librarians can play a role in promoting open education on their campuses. Academic librarians across the country are increasingly being asked to play a role in affordable learning initiatives, whether or not they have training in finding and using OERs. This interactive webcast will give academic librarians a baseline for beginning to understand how to reduce student costs and improve student outcomes by supporting the adoption of OERs. The presenter brings a unique perspective to the instruction because of her experience as an Affordable Learning Ambassador for OhioLINK, the academic consortium for Ohio, as well as her experience developing content for the Open Textbook Network’s ACRL Bootcamp in 2019. As a result, this webcast will draw on up-to-date research and resources, as well as varied perspectives.
